The pressure treated sill plate and first floor posts started going up this week. Initially somewhat nervous about the strapping method (for sheer bracing), the guys came up with a great method to attach, thread and stretch the Simpson straps. It’s really exciting for us -- the space is further being defined by the vertical structure -- we can now see where our doors and windows actually will be. It’s really exciting for the crew to be finally past the foundation.
On Tuesday, we had a couple guys from Statewide Construction in Medford come and attempt to polish down high spots and expose aggregate in the floor (our finished floor will be the concrete slab). The job didn’t turn out to our satisfaction to say the least -- they didn’t even finish the job and left a huge mess... Tomorrow, our own crew will rent a terrazzo machine and grind and then sand the surface down.
