OUR STRAW BALE

The first floor is really taking shape. All the 1st floor interior walls are framed: the nook into the library/guest room, bathroom, dining room.

Got 1x6 pine tongue and groove (T&G) for the 2nd story which we’ll see looking up from the 1st. On top of that, we’ll put down 2x4 “sleepers”, fill with cotton insulation (for sound proofing) and sheath with 1/2” plywood. On top of that will go our finish floor eventually - fir planks and cork in the kids’ bedrooms.

The 2nd story posts and beams will be put up at the tail end of next week - then on to the roof, which we’ve picked to be a grey metal.

The Tulikivi soapstone heater has arrived in Medford so we’ll be ready to schedule the installation - sometime after the roof is on.
